Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25. The 74-year-old singer died to Covid-19 related complications. On August 4, the singer had shared that he has tested positive for Coronavirus. Following which he was admitted to the hospital and a few weeks back he had recovered from the deadly virus. Unfortunately, his health deteriorated on Thursday and he breathed his last on Friday (September 25) around 1 pm at a Chennai hospital.

According to a PTI report, before contracting the novel Coronavirus, the veteran singer had composed and sung a Tamil song to create awareness about the virus.

The report further states that the veteran singer popularly known as SPB had composed as well as sung the song to create awareness about the Coronavirus. Lyricist Vairamuthu had penned the lyrics of the song which apparently stated how humanity will come out of this pandemic. Speaking about the track, SPB had previously said, “I composed this number. Let us listen to this… it is not more musical, it is more lyrical.”

The song was apparently titled, ‘Corona Corona’ and it highlights how the virus despite being small in size as an atom is deadly like an atom bomb. Through the song, the singer strived to deliver the message about the importance of social distancing and hygiene in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

After contracting the virus, SPB had thanked his fans for their concern and asked them not to worry as he will be fine soon.

However, despite recovering from Coronavirus, the singer’s health deteriorated later and he left for the heavenly abode yesterday. The entire nation is mourning his death. SPB was laid to rest at his farmhouse in Chennai today with full state honours.
