Sometimes you get the feeling that life is not fair and it really puts things into perspective. Legendary actress Sridevi passed away under tragic circumstances last year and tomorrow (February 24), marks her first death anniversary. It is an emotional moment for her family and the entire nation who adored her.

To mark this emotional occasion, Sridevi’s husband, Boney Kapoor, has donated her favourite handwoven Kota saree from her personal collection to a non-profit charitable trust, Concern India Foundation, and now they have put it for auction.

The saree’s auction is being hosted on Parisera, a handcrafted products website. The proceeds from the auction will be shared with Concern India Foundation that helps underprivileged women, children and the differently-abled in the fields of education, health and community development. According to a report in Economic Times, the bid began at Rs 40,000 and has now touched Rs 1,30,000.

A statement from the website read, “Being born in a South-Indian household, the actress has worn saris as a badge of her identity and has always infused a sense of unique charisma into its pleats. For the auction, the family has chosen a Kota sari. It is light, bright and emanates the perfect essence of Sridevi. Its versatility is widely known, this stylish weave can be worn to a reception, soirée or to a simple party. Handmade silver trinkets or a string of pearls will enhance the beauty of this luxurious weave.”

Sridevi will always be etched in everyone’s memory and this process of auctioning her saree is a very noble and kind gesture.
