SS Rajamouli REACTS as Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi avoids clash with RRR

SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi were supposed to hit the theatres in January 2022. RRR is slated to release on January 7 while Gangubai Kathiawadi was supposed to release on January 6. But to avoid the clash, the makers of the latter have pushed its release date. The Alia Bhatt starrer will now hit the marquee on February 18, 2022.

SS Rajamouli has appreciated the decision of the makers. He tweeted, “The decision by Mr. @JayantilalGada and Mr. #SanjayLeelaBhansali to move the release date is well appreciated. Our heartfelt wishes to #GangubaiKathiawadi..:)”

Apart from Alia, Ajay Devgn is also part of Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR. As per a report in India Today, Ajay asked both the teams to reconsider the release dates. He felt that the Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRR’s box office clash will affect the business of both films and producers and theatre owners would have faced huge losses.

Today (November 15), the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi released a statement, which read, “We are glad to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has a new release date. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios). The film will release on February 18, 2022 (sic).”

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biographical crime drama based on Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Ajay Devgn will play Karim Lala in the film.

Talking about RRR, it stars Jr NTR, Ram Charan in lead roles.
