On Sunday, actor Sahil Khan was arrested by Mumbai police from Chhattisgarh regarding the Mahadev betting app case. His arrest comes after he applied for anticipatory bail. According to a TOI report, the SIT is investigating alleged illicit dealings between specific financial and real estate companies in the state. Moreover, they are also investigating the supporters of the controversial Mahadev betting application.
As per the FIR report, the amount of the scam is around Rs 15,000 crore. Sahil Khan is being probed along with 31 others. Reportedly, Police will examine their phones, laptops, bank accounts and other technical devices.
Sahil Khan applies for bail in the Mahadev betting app case
Earlier, Bollywood Bubble exclusively learned that Sahil Khan has applied for anticipatory bail ahead of his visit to India from Dubai. The former actor wants to come back to his hometown to aid his ailing father who is suffering from Cancer. As per sources, Sahil Khan will have to submit his passport and won’t be arrested until he is produced before the court on the given date.
What is Mahadev betting app?
The Mahadev Betting App is an online game where people can do illegal betting on various online games. The games include poker, card games, chance games, badminton, tennis, football, cricket and others. Dubai-based Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal are the owners of this app as betting is legal in Dubai. However, it is illegal in India. The betting game came under the scanner when a lavish wedding in Dubai happened in Rs 200 crore and the entire money was given in cash.
In October 2023, several actors including Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Hina Khan, Bharti Singh, and Shraddha Kapoor name cropped up. They were booked under section 12(a) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act and sections 66(d), 66(f) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
