EXCLUSIVE: Sunny Kaushal on being referred to as Vicky Kaushal’s brother: It’s done in a way that takes away my identity

Sunny Kaushal recently gave a smashing performance in the movie Shiddat with Angrezi Medium star Radhika Madan. Sunny Kaushal is the younger brother of Vicky Kaushal who is quite an established actor in Bollywood with big-budget movies under his wing. It is no secret that he is often just referred to as ‘Vicky Kaushal’s brother’. So when we sat down for an exclusive chat with Sunny, we asked the Shiddat actor if these labels affect him and does he feel hurt not being acknowledged as he is.

Sunny Kaushal told Bollywood Bubble, “I haven’t felt irritated with the label because I am attached to it. But by words, I have been. I understand that when your write ‘Vicky Kaushals’ brother’ it will track more. Because Vicky Kaushal tracks more. But at the same time, there are ways to do it. There are times where it is done by taking away what I have done. I have just started and it is small- whatever. You can’t take that away from the person and say that he’s Vicky Kaushal’s brother. But then again it is there just for a second and then you disconnect and say that ‘it’s fine’.”

When asked if he discusses his films with brother Vicky, Sunny said, “Yes of course, we do. Because three out of four members in the house are in the industry. So we discuss our films and our body of work. But we never interfere into each other’s choices and professional life.”
