As the virtual world grows rapidly everyday, netizens, especially women, are freqiuent victims of virtual harasment too! On this note, Leone shared her own account of being threatened online, wherein the abuser even managed to reach her residence.
“Someone threatened me, telling me he’d come to my house to cause harm. Daniel was not in the country, and I was frightened, because I was living alone. I would hear noises outside my house and walk towards the door with a knife in my hand,” the actress told Mid-Day during a conversation, adding that a Twitter follower of hers, after abusing her online, found her place and started banging on the door. Although she later changed her residence, the incident still haunts her. (Also Read: Sunny Leone to be a part of ‘Dabangg 3’ too?)
Harassment such as this often leaves a lasting impact. In case of a high degree harassment, it might even cause severe depression or antipathy towards life, ending up taking lives.
Sunny’s gesture is commendable indeed!
