Supriya Pathak on her bonding with Shahid Kapoor and grandkids: I feel as generations pass, the bonds within families evolve

It was in 1988 when actor Pankaj Kapur and actress Supriya Pathak got married to each other. Previously, Pankaj Kapur was married to actress Neelima Azeem and had a son, Shahid Kapoor. The two got divorced in 1984. Supriya and Shahid share a strong bond despite having family background complexities. The Farzi actor shares a close bond with his birth mother Neelima and his stepmother, Supriya.

Supriya Pathak is now promoting her new film, Gangster Ganga, which was premiered as a part of Jio Cinema film fest. During an interview, the actress candidly spoke about her relationship with Shahid.

Speaking with ANI, the actress said, “Shahid is my son and his kids are my grandchildren. I share a great bond with both my grandchildren and as a family, we all put in efforts to strengthen our bonds. We are very family-oriented and believe in sticking together through thick and thin. I feel as generations pass, the bonds within families evolve. I have a friendlier and more open relationship with my daughter than I had with my mother.”

Previously, in an interview with Twinkle Khanna for Tweak India, the Ram Leela actress had also opened up about her first meeting with Shahid. She had said, “I met Shahid when he was six years old. He was the cutest baby I’d seen. He was such a lovely child.” She added. “He was very warm and he did not have any defiant reactions towards me nor did I have them too. So, when we met, it was instantly liking each other as people and I think that is what just carried on. Though there were many times when he was not with us, so whenever he would come and we kind of always, we reacted to each other as people.”

Supriya Pathak’s work front

Supriya Pathak has delivered strong and essential roles in her crafts. The actress is an active part of memorable films like Khichdi: The Movie, SatyaPrem Ki Katha, Ram Leela, and more. Now, Supriya Pathak will be seen much-anticipated film Khichdi 2. The film will release in theatres on 17th November.

Shahid Kapoor will be seen in an untitled rom-com alongside Kriti Sanon. The two are teaming up for the first time for a film. The film was slated to release in December, but reportedly, it has been postponed.
