Sandip Ssingh reveals ‘powerful people’ messaged him asking why they weren’t invited for Sushant Singh Rajput’s funeral

Sushant Singh Rajput was an introvert. He had very few close friends in this industry. Filmmaker Sandip Ssingh was one of those very few people who Sushant counted as a dear friend. Sandip recently revealed how he received messages from ‘powerful people’ asking him why they were not invited for Sushant’s funeral. He also spoke about how the blame-game regarding the cause of Sushant’s death is affecting his family.

Talking about how he was shocked to receive messages from ‘powerful people’ post Sushant’s demise, Sandip told Bollywood Hungama, “People created a drama out of his death, he did not like such things. I was about to go for a bath after I came home from the last rites and I got a few phone calls and messages asking me why I did not invite them to the funeral! I got messages ‘we are powerful people, you have not invited us’. I mean, what goes on in the minds of these people? Shocking!”

Sandip went on to share how he is pained to see so many controversies surrounding his dear friend’s death. “Ekta Kapoor had been dragged into a controversy but she was there on her own. Shraddha Kapoor, Randeep Hooda..all of them came despite the rains and were crying right there, they did not need an invitation for a funeral…More than his death, I am hurt by the things people are doing,” he shared.

The filmmaker also said that he is hurt in the way Sushant’s fan and the media are indulging in blame-game. Dismissing rumours surrounding Sushant’s dwindling career, Sandip said, “People are saying he lost seven films, blaming his relationship status, even claiming he did not have money. But Sushant did not specify the reasons for his decision, these are all our assumptions. He was an outsider and he worked with Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, he also did two films for Abhishek Kapoor. He worked with Neeraj Pandey and was to work with Ramesh Taurani and Rumi Jafry.”

Lastly, Sandip urged everyone to pray for Sushant’s soul and understand what his family must be going through right now. He even requested everyone to give space to the late actor’s grieving family.
