Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Mumbai Police charges SSR’s sisters with abetment to suicide

Yesterday (September 7), Rhea Chakraborty filed a case against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Priyanka Singh for allegedly getting a bogus prescription for the late actor in order to help him with his anxiety issues.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the Mumbai Police registered a case of abetment to suicide based on a complaint by Rhea against Sushant’s sisters and others. The case has been transferred to the CBI for further investigation.

The report stated that based on the complaint filed by Rhea, Mumbai Police has filed an FIR against Sushant’s sister Priyanka and Meetu Singh and Dr Tarun Kumar, an associate professor of cardiology from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Bandra police have filed the case under various sections pertaining to cheating, forgery, abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy and other sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Talking about the charges, a spokesperson of Mumbai Police was quoted saying in Indian Express as, “As per the complaint of Rhea Chakraborty, a case has been registered at Bandra Police Station, Mumbai under sections 420, 464, 465, 466, 468, 474, 306, 120B, 34 IPC and r/w Sec 8(c), 21, 22(A), 29 of NDPS Act. In line with orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the case is duly transferred to CBI for further investigation.”

A part of Rhea’s six-page long complaint reads, “It seems that as per my discussion with the deceased at the time, he had informed his sister that he would not be able to obtain the said medication without a prescription… Shockingly it has not come to light that his sister Priyanka had subsequently, on the same day, sent him a prescription by one Dr Tarun Kumar, associate professor of cardiology from Dr Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in New Delhi. Prime facie the said document appears forged and fabricated… Dr Kumar appears to have prescribed medication (controlled) under the NDPS Act to the deceased without any consultation as mandated by law.”

Supreme Court in its verdict on the transfer plea of Rhea had clearly stated that all the cases registered related to the death of Sushant will now be probed by CBI. So Mumbai Police’s charges against Sushant’s sisters and others will also be probed by CBI.

Earlier, reacting to Rhea’s complaint, Sushant’s family lawyer Vikas Singh had said that the this is just a ploy to get Mumbai Police involved in the case.
