Sushant Singh Rajput’s family lawyer writes to CBI director; calls AIIMS report ‘faulty’

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case recently took a new turn when All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) forensic team in their report to CBI confirmed that the actor died by suicide. The late actor’s family lawyer Vikas Singh has now written a letter to CBI director Rishi Kumar raising objection over AIIMS report after they ruled out the possibility of murder.

In his letter, the senior advocate, Vikas Singh has also demanded a new forensic probe by the CBI. He even called the conduct of AIIMS Dr Sudhir Gupta ‘unethical and unprofessional’. Read on to know the details.

According to IANS report, calling the AIIMS report ‘faulty’, the legal team of Sushant’s family in their letter to CBI has said that despite their several attempts to get a copy of the AIIMS report, there has been no response by Dr Sudhir Gupta.

“I am accordingly writing this letter on the premise that the news report regarding the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) opinion is correct. The leaked report, if correct, amounts to drawing a biased and boastful conclusion from insufficient evidence,” writes Vikas Singh.

The letter further said that AIIMS was only supposed to express its opinion on an autopsy report submitted by Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital. And that AIIMS was not supposed to do a post-mortem since they didn’t actually examine Sushant’s body. Singh further added, “Dr Sudhir Gupta has been giving media interviews about the sensitive case right from Day One, questioning Cooper Hospital doctors for the ‘dubious’ autopsy and Maharashtra Police for a hurried post-mortem and contamination and non-preservation of the scene of crime scene.”

Singh’s letter further highlights the various discrepancies like- no videotaping of the autopsy, and non-preservation of sufficient viscera for future examination- that took place when Sushant’s autopsy was done in Mumbai hospital. “There were several other infirmities that could be pointed out by a genuine forensic examination but, somehow, the same were left out by the AIIMS team, as expressed by one of the doctors in his interview telecast by a TV channel,” reads the letter.

Raising questions on Dr Gupta’s conduct, Singh wrote in his letter, “The conduct of Dr Gupta is unethical, unprofessional, and in contravention of government service conduct rules and MCI guidelines. This criminal misadventure on his part has undermined the public trust in a premier institution like AIIMS. It has created doubts in the minds of millions of people about the fairness of the investigation.”

Vikas also stated that the AIIMS report should have only mentioned only the cause of Sushant’s death rather than saying it was a case of suicide. As according to the advocate only CBI can decide if it was a case of suicide. Requesting a formation of a new forensic team by CBI, the lawyer said wants a fair and proper assessment in Sushant’s case.

Meanwhile, Dr Gupta had told India Today, “It was a seven-member team of doctors who came to this conclusion that Sushant died by suicide.” Whereas CBI is yet to issue any official statement about AIIMS report.
