Sushmita Sen says ‘where there is no respect, love has no meaning’ a few days after confirming breakup with Rohman Shawl

Sushmita Sen recently made headlines after she announced her break-up to longtime boyfriend Rohman Shawl. The Aarya actress had taken to her social media account and shared an official statement saying the ‘relationship’ was long over. But in a recent Instagram live session, Sushmita was seen talking about lack of respect being a deal-breaker for her in love. Fans even suspected if this was the reason why she parted ways with Rohman.

Sushmita said, “Respect means everything to me. I put that above love any day. Because love is something you feel with great intensity and you fall out with the same intensity. There is the movie business and books that take you on a journey of very unrealistic love, where there are no responsibilities and problems.”

The actress further added, “But where there’s no respect, love has no meaning. Love will come and go but if there is respect, love gets a second chance to express itself. But if you only focus on love, it will be temporary. If there is no respect, love takes a backseat. That’s how important respect is for me.”

Earlier, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Sushmita opened up about her break-up with Rohman and said, “When you are a public figure, the person involved with you is also in the public eye. Even if the person is there because you have put them there. So, it is not fair for his life or your life to be stuck with everyone feeling something or thinking it’s a relationship.”
