Sushmita Sen reveals why Shreegauri Sawant refused to watch Taali

Sushmita Sen’s upcoming series Taali is directed by Ravi Jadhav is all set to release on 15th August 2023. The trailer of Taali was unveiled on 7 August 2023. It chronicles the journey of transgender Shreegauri Sawant who was hell-bent on fighting for the rights of the transgender community in India. Sushmita’s looks, physical transformation, and baritone have been receiving praise from all corners ever since the teaser was unveiled. And now, Shreegauri Sawant has reacted to Sushmita Sen’s effortless portrayal from Taali.

Shreegauri Sawant praises Sushmita Sen’s look from Taali

Talking about Gauri Sawant’s reaction towards the web series, Sushmita shared, “She (Shreegauri Sawant) came to me, blessed me, kissed my forehead, and gave me a gift. She told me, ‘I don’t want to watch. Yeh jo kar rahi hai, sahi kar rahi hai. Yeh meri marble chi murti hai (Whatever she is doing, she’s doing fine. She is like my marble statue’.”

The actress further spoke about their equation and shared why she finds Gauri inspirational. Sushmita added, “If I’m sick, she’s the first person to come with a blessing. If I need something, she’ll make it her business to make that happen. She has love like that. That’s love in action and that’s who she is. I find her very inspirational.”

On Monday, Sushmita dropped her web series Taali’s trailer alongside the caption, “Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. Taali – Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge!“

Sushmita Sen said in a statement about her portrayal of Shreegauri Sawant, “When I was first approached for Taali, in my mind it was an instant yes, however, I took six and a half months to come on board officially. Shreegauri Sawant is an admirable human being, I connect with her on so many aspects, and I’m fortunate to have got the opportunity live through her incredible life, through this series.”

Meanwhile, Taali is all set to stream on Jio Cinema from 15 August 2023. Apart from this, Sushmita Sen will also be seen in the third season of Ram Madhvani’s Aarya. The series will stream on Disney+Hotstar.
