Actress Swara Bhaskar’s upcoming film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ takes a serious stand on the limitations pertaining the country’s education system. Recently, in a conversation with the media about the film, Swara said she believed education in India should be subsidized to a large extent as that makes education more available to people who otherwise can’t afford the expense.
“Criticize me if you want to. But I believe education should be subsidized. It should be made available to everyone,” the actress said.
Swara’s open letter to Umar Khalid on the context of unrest at the JNU campus recently went viral. When asked about it, Swara said she couldn’t help but be vocal about her political and social stand, if it they earned her criticism.
“Someone recently told me on Twitter, ‘Swara, I unfollowed you after the JNU incident. But after watching the trailer of ‘Nil Battey Sannata’, I am following you again’ “, the actress giggled.
Was it easy to sign for a mother’s character? Her answer is a clear NO.
“When you play a character that is younger than your age, it is easier for you. Because you’ve already lived that life. For example, you know how your first love or first kiss was. But playing an age that you haven’t lived yet, is tough. It’s tough for me to feel how the mother of a 15-year-old feels. As an actor, it’s really challenging for me. That’s how an actor grows,” she said.
‘Nil Battey Sannata’, directed by Ashwin Iyer Tiwari, hits the theatres on April 22, 2016.
