‘Sheer Qorma’ Trailer: Swara Bhasker-Divya Dutta’s romance drama aims to propagate ‘Love is not a sin’

After Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan‘, we have yet another LGBTQ film hitting the Indian silver screens. Yes, this time it’s a lesbian romance drama ‘Sheer Qorma’ starring powerhouse performer Divya Dutta and Swara Bhasker. The makers of the film dropped its trailer today.

Divya and Swara are playing lovers in the film and the trailer tries to showcase the struggle and fears of the LGTBQ community and how their biggest battle is fighting their own families. Divya identifies as non-binary and she falls in love with Swara. Their family and friends are yet to accept their relationship and that forms the crux of the film’s story.

The thing that stands out in the film is the fact that same-sex relationship is still a taboo subject especially in the Islamic community. So with both the lead actors playing Muslim characters, ‘Sheer Qorma’ will definitely raise quite a few eyebrows. The film also stars Shabana Azmi, who plays Divya’s mother.

Directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, ‘Sheer Qorma’ is bankrolled by Marijke DeSouza and it will be released in film festivals.
