Never lobbied for awards: Taapsee Pannu was asked why she’s never got a National Award; her response wins the Internet

Taapsee Pannu recently won the internet with her response to being asked why she has not bagged a National Award yet. Taapsee has made quite the impact in Bollywood and carved a niche for herself in the industry as she is often seen starring in movies that address social issues. Taapsee will be seen next in Rashmi Rocket which revolves around the life of a village girl who aspires to be an athlete and represent the nation at an international level. Taapsee is an excellent actress and there is no denying that. She has given some really impactful performances from her debut in Pink will Amitabh Bachchan to Thappad. So when she was asked why has a National Award not come her way yet, this is what the actress had to say.

Taapsee told Bollywood Hungama that she has no control over whether she gets an award and so she only focuses on her performance, “Please give me one! Whom shall I ask for it? What can I do? I can only perform to my best, and that’s all that I have control over. I’ve never lobbied even for regular awards, which is why it took so long for me to win one. So how will I be able to lobby for a National Award?”

She further said that she has never lobbied for the awards and that is why she has found a revenge strategy for being not being acknowledged for her performances, Taapsee said, “I have no idea how to go about it other than making sure that if I don’t win one this year, I’ll return the next year with another performance. I have kept that attitude since 2016, when I was not acknowledged for Pink. And ever since then, my way of taking revenge has been to come back with a performance every year that’s going to make you sit up and take notice for my work. That’s all that I have control over, really.”

Meanwhile, apart from Taapsee also starring in Rashmi Rocket will be Priyanshu Painyuli and Abhishek Banerjee. The movie will begin streaming on Zee5 from October 15 this year.
