Taapsee Pannu shares real reason behind keeping her wedding with Mathias Boe a secret; says, “Didn’t want to make it a public affair”

Taapsee Pannu has been in the headlines for several weeks now owing to her wedding to long-time beau Mathias Boe. The actress and badminton champion met during the inaugural Indian Badminton League in 2013. The duo – who have been together for a decade now, reportedly got married on March 23 in Udaipur in the presence of family and close friends.

While some pictures and videos of her intimate wedding have gone viral on social media, the actress has now official confirmed the news and spoken up about why it was a private affair.

On keeping her marriage a secret

During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Taapsee Pannu opened up about why she chose to keep her wedding to Mathias Boe a private affair. Talking about the ‘secret wedding,’ the ‘Pink’ actress said, “I’m not very sure if I want to let my personal life and the people involved in it, to go through the kind of scrutiny that happens when a public figure gets married. It’s me who has signed up for this, not my partner, not the people who were involved in the wedding. I am not sure about how I feel about it being out there, that’s why I’ve kept it to myself.”

Taapsee Pannu further stated that sharing details about her personal life with the public would invite unwarranted scrutiny and judgements. She said, “The intention was never to keep it a secret; I just didn’t want to make it a public affair, because then I will start getting worried about how it is perceived, rather than really enjoying the way I would want to do it. Subconsciously, I would start thinking about how it feels from the outside which I did not want to think about, especially for this one thing, because it’s hopefully happening once in life!”

She added, “The people who are genuinely close to me, were a part of the celebration and always knew about my relationship and my intentions about when and how I want to get married.”

On sharing pictures/videos

In the same conversation, Taapsee Pannu revealed she doesn’t have plans to shared anything from her marriage to Mathias Boe. The actress said, “I have no plans for a release of any kind. I don’t think I am mentally prepared to put that out right now. I knew people who were there. They wanted to be there for me and were not present to judge. That’s why I was pretty relaxed.“ She added, “In the future, if I get comfortable sharing about wedding details, we will figure out how, what and when I want to release something if at all.”

The ‘Dunki’ actress also revealed that her sister, Shagun Pannu, filled the role of a wedding planner. Together, they own a wedding planning business.

Taapsee Pannu upcoming projects

On the professional front, Taapsee has a busy 2024. She will be seen in Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?, Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba and Khel Khel Mein.
