Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar has been planning to make the biopic on the unsung freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh for a long time now. The director wanted Irrfan Khan to step into the shoes of Udham Singh but unfortunately, the actor walked out of the project owing to his health.
Now ‘Uri’ actor Vicky Kaushal has been finalized to play the lead in this biopic. Interestingly, Taapsee Pannu feels that she could have done quite a good job in playing Udham Singh. Yes, you read that right.
Yesterday, Shoojit shared the first look of Vicky from the biopic and sharing her thoughts on it, Taapsee wrote, “I kept telling Shoojit Sircar and Ronnie Lahiri I can be quite good at playing Udham Singh! But now that they have found Vicky Kaushal. I think he will do a decent job. For all the favourites in one team, I’m gonna wait for this.”

Replying to Taapsee’s comment producer Ronnie wrote, “He’s trying to match up to your standards.” To this Taapsee left yet another hilarious comment saying, “Tell him to keep trying! He will reach somewhere close by.”

Taapsee and Vicky share a great rapport as they have already worked together in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Manmarziyaan’. But we wonder why Vicky hasn’t reacted on Taapsee’s response yet.
Written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya, ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. The film is scheduled to hit the marquee in 2020.
