There were some reports which stated that Tabu has been approached for Dhiraj Kumar’s upcoming project which is based on Uzma Ahmed, an Indian who was forced to marry a Pakistani at gunpoint in Pakistan. Thankfully though, she was rescued by the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and she returned to India on May 25. However, Tabu has now rebuffed these reports and has lashed out at the filmmakers.
In a statement, she said, “I have no idea why filmmakers who have not approached me give out false news of me being approached for their movies when I have not even been contacted or made aware of a certain project. This has also happened in the past. In fact, in some cases, some really big and established production houses have taken the liberty of using my name for a project without as much as my consent. I think this is clearly done to hype their projects and to create insecurity amongst other actresses who may be approached for the role. This is a poor practice and people should stop using my name in vain. Honestly, it shows them(filmmakers) in poor light when I issue a denial like this. Unfortunately, they leave me with no choice because no one has bothered to even check with me.” (Also Read: ‘I am single today, it is because of Ajay Devgn’, REVEALS Tabu)
The reports also suggested that Tabu would be playing Sushma Swaraj while Parineeti Chopra and Taapsee Pannu are in the race for the lead role of Uzma Ahmed, whereas Anil Kapoor will be essaying the role of Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh who helped Uzma Ahmed.
Well, we are actually disappointed that Tabu is not a part of this movie. It would have been amazing to see such a talented star cast coming together for a film which has such an interesting plot.
