Tabu is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. Recently, she delivered a terrific performance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya. The actress was seen in a never-seen-before avatar in Khufiya. Before Khufiya, Tabu and Vishal have worked together on movies like Maqbool and Haider. The actor-director duo recently joined Bollywood Bubble for a candid conversation. Much to our surprise, Vishal Bhardwaj made a shocking revelation of how Tabu had said no to Haider twice.
Tabu rejected Haider twice
In Haider, Tabu played the role of Ghazala. The actress delivered an impeccable performance in Haider co-starring Shahid Kapoor. At first, Tabu had rejected the role before finally saying yes to it. Vishal revealed, “It was very difficult to manao (convince) Tabu for that part. She said no twice and I still didn’t go to anyone. She said, ‘why are you wasting your time? I’m not doing it’. But I kept going and I knew that she’s going to do it.”
The filmmaker added, “Haider was more Gertrude than Hamlet. If the Gertrude is not right, then however a good performance Hamlet can do but Gertrude was my most favourite character.”
Tabu rejected Haider twice
Tabu and Shahid starrer Haider released in October 2014. It received a good response from the audiences. Talking about the love that she receives, Tabu said, “It is overwhelming. Usse jyada I think it goes really deep. I treasure that and I never want to take that for granted. And I get amazed at the phenomena and I get amazed in a good way. So, seeing the kind of effect the work has or performance has on people and then aisa lagta hai ki ‘aare kya kia humne?’. And then you review what it meant to you or what you brought to it and what people are giving you now in the form of love. There’s nothing more valuable than that.”
Furthermore, when asked her the reason behind saying no to Haider first, Vishal gave a quirky response saying, “That’s Khufiya.”
