Tabu to mark her third Hollywood outing after 12 years with Dune: Prophecy, read on to know more

Renowned Bollywood actress Tabu has been cast in a pivotal recurring role in the highly anticipated Max prequel series, ‘Dune: Prophecy.’ As reported by Variety, Tabu will portray the character of Sister Francesca. Tabu has made a comeback the Hollywood medium after 12 years. Prior to Dune series, she was seen in The Namesake and Life of Pi alongside late actor Irrfan Khan. The actress has proved her strengths of acting via multiple mediums. Tabu is a reclaimed actress in Bollywood with numerous followers and fans and now once again she is headed to cast her magic on the Hollywood viewers.

‘Dune: Prophecy’ delves into the rich universe created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, unfolding 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides. Tabu’s character is described as “Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital”. The series was commissioned originally in 2019 under the title Dune: The Sisterhood. The series centres on two Harkonnen sisters as they confront existential threats to humanity’s future and lay the groundwork for the revered Bene Gesserit sect. Inspired by the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, the show promises a compelling exploration of intrigue and ambition in a fantastical setting.

Joining Tabu in this epic saga are an ensemble cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Johdi May, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Mark Strong, Chloe Lea, Josh Heuston, Jade Anouka, Edward Davis, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Chris Mason.

Under the guidance of executive producer Anna Foerster, who also directs several episodes, and showrunner Alison Schapker, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ promises to captivate audiences with its blend of gripping storytelling and stunning visuals. Co-developer Diane Ademu-John rounds out the creative team, ensuring a faithful adaptation that honours the beloved source material.
