Recently, jewellery brand Tanishq pulled their latest advertisement after receiving criticism on social media. The ad was part of their “Ekatvam campaign”. The ad shows a Muslim family celebrating a traditional South Indian baby shower for their daughter-in-law. #BoycottTanishq started trending on Twitter as a section of people started trolling the ad. From common people to Bollywood and TV personalities, many have come forward to support Tanishq and its ad. Some couples even shared their real-life stories of interfaith marriages.
Actor Zeeshan Ayyub’s wife Rasika Agashe recently shared a glimpse of her baby shower ceremony and captioned it, “Meri gobharai…socha share kar dun…(My baby shower…thought let me share it)…and before crying out love jihad, let’s learn about special marriage act”.

Their well-wishers started pouring in with congratulatory messages but later Zeeshan and Rasika clarified that the picture was six years old (when Rasika was pregnant with her daughter).
Other celebs who raised their voices in support of the brand and the advertisement are Swara Bhasker, Soni Razdan, and Vir Das among others.
For the unversed, Tanishq pulled down the ad and issued a statement, “We are deeply saddened with the inadvertent stirring of emotions and withdraw this film keeping in mind the hurt sentiments and well-being of our employees, partners and store staff.”
