The Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar controversy has been hitting the headlines since the past few days. A number of Bollywood celebs have stepped forward in support of the actress who has claimed that Nana Patekar harassed her on the sets of the 2008 film ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’. Raveena Tandon, Twinkle Khanna, Priyanka Chopra and many more have not only applauded Tanushree’s stand but even supported her.

Recently, we had Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor too extending their support to the ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ actress. Now, actress Pooja Bhatt and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali have also opened up on the subject.

At an event last night, Pooja and Imtiaz were asked about their views on the ongoing Nana Patekar-Tanushree Dutta controversy, to which the fiery actress said, “Agar aapko lagta hai ke yeh manch sahi jagah hai itne serious cheezon ke baare mein baat karne ke liye, toh aap mujhe aadha ghanta denge toh main baat kar sakti hoon. Magar main yeh kahungi ke kabhi bhi kisi ki shikaayat hoti hai agar kisi ke baare mein, toh you should not count it out. And I don’t think we should silence those voices. (If you think this is the right stage to talk about this issue, then give me half hour. But I would like to stay that if there’s a complain about someone about something, you should not count it out.)”

She further added that she has never asked for any support from Bollywood. If a man ever misbehaves with her, she will approach the court of law to solve the issue. If a person believes in themselves, then truth shall prevail. She also added that Bollywood is a wonderful place where people will support you for award ceremonies, for weddings and for funerals. But for other matters, you have to fight the battles on your own.

On being asked if a #MeToo movement will start in Bollywood, Imtiaz Ali said, “These matters are very sensitive and should be discussed sensitively. I believe until you have no information about a case, no one, including me should talk about it. So, I would say that whatever the person is saying, they should be sure about it. There are problems in the system and not that these problems weren’t there earlier. Questions like this always come up. Sometimes in a hidden manner and sometimes in public. It is wrong to suppress them but one should not keep hurling them. It is necessary to state it and make an opinion and take an action on it if one knows the truth.

Do you agree with Imtiaz Ali and Pooja Bhatt’s statement on the ongoing Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar controversy?
