Former Miss India Universe and actress Tanushree Dutta returned to India from the USA after two years and she has caught the limelight. She has been giving interviews back to back and in a recent interview, the ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ actress opened up on a sexual harassment case. In the interview, she spoke about the #MeToo movement being unsuccessful in Bollywood.
In an interview with News18, Tanushree said, “The thing is that our country has become so hypocritical, and people constantly ask why #MeToo movement is not happening in India, it won’t happen unless and until you’ll acknowledge what happened with me in 2008. The #MeToo happened in Hollywood a year or two back, but in India it happened several years ago. I was probably one of the first people in the history of this country in the media field to speak up and stand up. Everybody saw what happened but the memory and the popular perception of it is that Tanushree Dutta spoke up against harassment and then she was no more.”

Today, the actress revealed the name of Nana Patekar who was trying to touch her inappropriately while shooting an intimate song sequence in the film ‘Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss’, even though it was not mentioned in her contract. In an interview with Zoom TV, Tanushree spoke at length about the whole incident. She said, “I want to take names – actor Nana Patekar, producer Sami Siddiqui, director Rakesh Sarang and choreographer Ganesh Acharya. When Nana Patekar misbehaved with me, he voiced out that he would do an intimate step with me as well in the song, which wasn’t mentioned in my contract. It was supposed to be a solo sequence of mine.”
The actress further said that no one from the film fraternity came to support her. “When I had complained about the same to the producer-director and told them to ask him (Nana Patekar) to stay away from me, they didn’t pay heed. Just because I was new to the film industry, whether or not it was required, let’s do an intimate scene with her,” added the actress.
This incident grabbed the headlines in 2008 and Nana Patekar addressed a press conference refuting all the charges against him. He said, “Tanushree is my daughter’s age and I have no clues about what made her say such things about me. I have been a part of this film industry since the last 35 years and haven’t had anyone saying such things about me ever.”
Though 10 years have passed, Tanushree hasn’t forgotten the horrific incident. Now, let’s see how Nana Patekar reacts to the statement by Tanushree. Till then, stay tuned for more updates.
