Tara Sutaria is one of the most loved actresses in Bollywood. She made her acting debut with Karan Johar-produced Student of the Year 2, co-starring Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday. Post her debut, she has been impressing fans with her performances in films like Marjaavaan, Tadap, and Ek Villian Returns. Tara is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Apurva.
Ahead of the film’s release, Tara along with Abhishek Banerjee, Rajpal Yadav, and director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat joined Bollywood Bubble for a candid conversation. Talking about Tara, in particular, she spoke about how frustrating it has been to be boxed because of the way she looks.
Tara Sutaria speaks her heart out
When asked about doing a film like Apurva, Tara said, “I don’t think of it as a risk. I think this is the greatest boon so far in my career is the opportunity to portray something as real and far away from so much else that I’ve done. And I don’t know why people call doing female-centric films a risk. It’s a great blessing.”
The actress added, “I do feel like it’s really just high time as well. I don’t want to feel shame in saying that it’s high time for me. I’ve really known my worth and of course you can know your worth and fight for it as much as you want but I feel very blessed that Murad sir and Nikhil sir saw in me that I was hopeful a lot more people would see in me for many years. It has been extremely frustrating to be put in this box because of the way that I look. I’m saying it very bluntly and honestly because that’s the feedback that I get in every single meeting that I go to even now.”

She went on to add, “We often tend to do this with actresses is that ‘she looks this way so she must do this way and she must perform this way’. But nobody actually takes the time out to really think about what else one can do. So, I really hope that with this film people broaden their own horizons a little bit because I certainly have and I genuinely have to thank Murad and Nikhil sir for letting me do something that has truthfully being a dream of mine ever since I began my career.”
Apurva will release on 15th November only on Disney+Hotstar.
