Thalaivi: On MGR’s birth anniversary, Kangana Ranaut unveils new still featuring Arvind Swami

On the occasion of MGR’s 104th birth anniversary, the makers of Thalaivi unveiled a new still as a tribute to the late actor-politician. In the biopic, Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami will be seen essaying the role of Jayalalithaa and MG Ramachandran (MGR). Kangana also paid a video tribute to the legendary actor MGR.

Sharing a new still from the upcoming biopic, Kangana took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “Tribute to the legend #MGR on his birth anniversary, revolutionary leader n a mentor to #Thalaivi @thearvindswami #Vijay(sic).”

In the new still, Arvind and Kangana are seen together for the first time.

The Queen actress also shared a video tribute for Bharat Ratna MGR. She captioned her post as, “Here’s a tribute to the legend #MGR on his 104th birth anniversary, the revolutionary leader of Tamil Nadu and a true mentor to #Thalaivi, the iconic leader!”

The video chronicles how MGR, the superstar and politician, went on to rule people’s heart for 50 years. And it was him who introduced the people of Tamil Nadu to their Thalaivi i.e Jayalalithaa.

Helmed by AL Vijay, Thalaivi chronicles the journey of film actress and politician, Jayalalithaa. The film is a multilingual biopic made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh are producing this biopic.

The makers of Thalaivi are yet to announce its release date.
