The iconic pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the roles of Raj and Simran continues to resonate with audiences. The movie recently clocked 28 years of release. Celebrating the movie’s legacy, The Academy, on its official Instagram page, shared a clip of Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna song from DDLJ and left fans nostalgic.

During the docu-series The Romantics, Aditya Chopra revealed how SRK was initially hesitant to play romantic hero Raj in the film. Talking about movie, King Khan shared, “DDLJ kind of seeps in old values, but it is so wonderfully in a new bottle. And still, it was a very youth-oriented love story. Normally, love stories are Romeo and Juliet, where you go against the system, the family, you know, West Side Story.”

The movie continues to run in Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir theatre.
