Some days ago, music producer Pete Cannon shared the latest commercial of Apple iPhone X ad and stated that he has produced the music for it. However, in no time, people realised that it is indeed legendary Indian music composer RD Burman’s tune in reality and not Pete Cannon’s as was stated by him. In fact, the video on YouTube shared by Apple nowhere thought of giving credits to RD Burman and instead gave credits to Pete Cannon. Here, have a look at the ad:
And, here’s a look at the original RD Burman track:
This infuriated RD Burman fans to a major extent and they lashed out at the brand and the composer for not giving credits to the man behind the tune. Here are some reactions:
The rip-off of an Indian movie song and saying I produced….. Give credits to the original composer #RDBurman

This is a direct rip-off (no not even a cover version) from Indian composer RD Burman's song. Please give him due credit @petecannonbeats @Apple . https://t.co/uZwiu6PNKl

This forced the music producer Pete Cannon to finally clear the air and state the obvious that it is indeed a sample track from RD Burman’s composition. Here’s his tweet:
Hi Guys, I just want to address the sample used in the new Apple iPhoneX advert. It samples a track from the great R D Burman's 'Burning Train’ and it's a MAGICAL piece of music! It was cleared/licensed via Blurred Recs courtesy of Saregama. Everyone is on board and loves it. 😉
