This popular actress joins Varun Dhawan in Citadel spin-off

Varun Dhawan has been signed up with Amazon Prime Video for the Indian spin-off of Russo Brother’s Citadel. The Indian spin-off will be directed by Raj and DK of The Family Man fame. The news had created a buzz on the internet as it is Varun Dhawan’s debut on OTT. Here is some more exciting news for fans. Reportedly Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been roped in to play the female lead in the action-packed series.

This is Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s second collaboration with Raj and DK after The Family Man 2.

As reported by sources to Pinkvilla, “It’s among the biggest shows that’s keenly awaited not just in India but even on an international front. The makers were on the lookout for a fresh pairing and that’s when they pulled off the coup of bringing Samantha alongside Varun for the first time. The action-packed spy series will go on the floors in 2022. The actor will undergo intense training for the action-drama before they start shooting for the same.”

Sources added, “It’s neither a remake nor an adaptation. Given that the espionage genre has a universal reach, the makers have decided on a spin-off to Citadel in India. The idea is to set the premise against the backdrop of Indian characters and take it to a global level.”

The shoot begins sometime next year and Varun Dhawan and Samantha will be playing stylish spies in this Raj and DK series.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan has Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Bhediya and Sanki in his kitty.
