Iconic actress Sridevi’s sudden demise left everyone in a state of shock. Not just the Kapoor family but the entire nation was left heartbroken due to Sridevi’s death. The most affected by the news was the late actress’ eldest daughter Janhvi Kapoor, who is all set to mark her Bollywood debut with ‘Dhadak’. Sridevi’s demise left Janhvi devastated as her mother will not be around to see her first film.
Ahead of her film’s release Jhanvi gave her first ever interview to her mentor Karan Johar for Vogue magazine. In the interview, Janhvi revealed some heart-wrenching moments which she shared with her mother just before she left for Dubai to attend nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding celebrations.
Talking about the void that she is feeling post her mother’s death, Janhvi said, “Of course there is a void. I could always be the baby with her. When I’d wake up, the first thing I’d do was ask for her. I’d need her to put me to sleep sometimes and she literally had to feed me. The day before she left for the wedding, I had to shoot, but I couldn’t sleep, so I was like, “I need you to come and put me to sleep.” But she was packing, so by the time she came to me I was half asleep. But I could feel her patting my head.”

Janhvi even revealed how her younger sister Khushi is more maternal than she is and after her mother’s death, they have become each other’s support. Sharing about her sister she said, “I’ve always been very bad at that. Khushi is very maternal with me. I am a full baby. She takes care of me. Now she comes and puts me to sleep sometimes.”
Karan even prodded the young actress about her weakest moment where she said that she wants to work to make her mother proud. Janhvi agreed and said, “That’s always been my motivation. I’m so proud of my parents. I need to make them as proud of me.”
Sharing some interesting stories that her mother used to tell her about her shooting experiences, Janhvi said, “Those were my bedtime stories. Her whacked-out experiences. You know, in the ’80s and ’90s, when actors would do multiple shifts working simultaneously on different films? So she was doing three movies with the same director, who was also the actor. They were in Ooty and he decided to shoot songs for all three films together. He’d do a scene, then cut and walk to the next location and the entire cast and crew would follow. At one point, he does a shot, starts walking and, suddenly, he’s behind a tree taking a piss, and the entire cast and crew is there, watching. He was just walking, and everyone assumed they were going to the next location! Mum was in all the films, and she’d figure out which film they were shooting for by his wigs, which would change for each role.”
Janhvi will be making her foray into Bollywood with Karan Johar’s ‘Dhadak’ that will hit the silver screens on July 28. The film is directed by Shashank Khaitan and also marks the debut of Shahid Kapoor’s brother, Ishaan Khatter in Bollywood. Till then stay updated for more such interesting updates.
