Throwback: When Anushka Shetty rejected ‘Singham’ due to low pay

In the light of Anushka Shetty refusing to act in Prabhas-starrer ‘Saaho’, we just came across another interesting piece of information. Not many of us knew that Ajay Devgn’s superhit 2007 film ‘Singham’ was offered to Anushka, before Kajal Aggarwal bagged it!

Directed by Rohit Shetty, it was a Hindi adaptation of a Tamil film with the same name that featured Southern star Suriya and Anushka in lead roles. While casting for his film, Rohit was pretty keen to have the actress on board. However, Anushka turned it down and the reason was nothing but the remuneration offered to her which she found inadequate. (Also Read: Anushka Shetty says NO to Prabhas’ ‘Saaho’?)

“Yes, a lot was written in Mumbai about why I couldn’t do ‘Singham’ and so much of it was so untrue. But it was all because of a miscommunication regarding numbers (price). So far, the offers from Mumbai have not really been that inviting. But that may change soon,”  Anushka had stated, in one of her interviews.

Apparently, this left both Rohit and Ajay all upset.

Interestingly, that was the same period when ‘Baahubali’ happened to Anushka. A loss isn’t really a loss always! 🙂
