Karan Johar. The name instantly brings to mind his qualities, being a multi-talented personality he is. Writer, director, a producer, actor, and even the most entertaining host. But there’s one more side to this multi-talented person which is not yet known to anyone, and maybe it never will be. That’s his singing talent.
Currently, Karan is judging a talent-hunt based reality show ‘India’s Next Superstars’ along with filmmaker Rohit Shetty. And it was during an episode of this show when he recounted the time when he had sung the song ‘Jaane tu ya jaane na’ during a singing competition in his school. But, there came a moment when he was told to never sing again, ever. And it was said to him by none other than his mother Hiroo Johar. Yes! You read that right. Recently, Karan revealed in his statement, “I explored this talent of mine in school. My mother expected me to take part in elocution or handwriting competition but I decided to go for the singing competition. When I got home at night, I saw my mother crying.”
“That’s when she told me ‘Beta, do anything you like, but don’t ever sing again’. And that was the end of my singing career,” added the ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ director.
It’s really sad! Well, we are only wondering that what made Karan’s mother ask him not to sing ever again. Was he that bad, or was he that good that emotions ran high for his mother? Maybe, we will come to know.
Quiet, resonant, and creative, he can be seen immersed in his own world, and puts in his heart and soul into the one passion that he has, Bollywood. His line for survival? Feel happy to be a part of it.
