Rani you were Magical!
All those years after its release, Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ still remains a hush-hush attempt due to its broaching a very controversial subject, that of infidelity. However, we are not here to talk about the movie, as much as we are going to go into the lanes of memories to bring up a fashion gem that Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra created, in the form of Maya aka Rani Mukerji. Further, Rani might be having a release soon in the name of 'Hichki'. But as this been a fashion segment, we can’t help but miss her on screen presence in 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'. whether it be her sarees or the western attires, she was a sight not to miss. And frankly you do not need an occasion to laud a beauty like her right? With the charismatic power of Manish Malhotra, Rani you were magically dressed in 'KANK'.
The Lehenga!
The flick starts off with a scene where Maya is dressed in a heavy embroidered red lehenga and oh-boy Rani in it looked FAB and how.
Red is Love!
Remember this scene when SRK comes with a bunch of roses, which he intends to give to Rani? Yeah, forget the red roses, Rani's dressing sense in that cosy attire made us mad then, and still makes our hearts beat a little faster. *you'll only understand if you are a fashion freak*
The Winter Wear!
This snap is for all the trench coat lovers. Apart from the concept of the film, Rani's attire throughout the film said a different story. Like the clothing colours used had a connection with the mood-swings of the actress.
Saree Saga!
Then we have this song (Rock N Roll Soniye) scene, where Maya's (Rani) lacy saree added to her martial frustration was so very apt. Nothing a sexy lace sari can’t tackle.
The Romance!
Then on a sudden note the dresses wearing Maya (Rani) turns into a saree wearing woman. Maybe Karan wanted to show that the lady is finally in LOVE and so there was a shift in Rani's style too. In the song ‘Tumhi Dekho Na’, she romances in varying colours of the same saree. Dev twins with her *aww*. The song kicks off with a luxurious white coat and graduates to saris in all hues of love.
Sheer Saree!
We will not say much here as the above sheer saree is nothing less than a woman's true fantasy come true.
Desi Tadka!
This is the ending sequence of the movie where Rani is seen draped in a sanskari peach shiny saree, and boy, how we love it. The success quotient of ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ may be a debatable one, but as far as sartorial front is concerned, we surely have a winner here with no contenders to date to match. Whatsoever; Karan Johar along with Manish Malhotra and of course Rani created a havoc (in a good way) on the fashion front.
Karan Johar might be known as a filmmaker who glorifies and enhances everything in his films. But amidst all his grand cinema, there was this movie which stands out for it dared to approach a subject which has always been a taboo. We are talking of ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’, which dealt with the subject of infidelity. The movie is almost 12 years old and you might think why are talking about it now. Yeah, we will, as we are missing Maya (Rani Mukerji) from the ‘KANK’. *especially her style*
