Veteran theatre actor Tom Alter performed a musical play “Parchhaiyaan”, a tribute to late poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, at a school here Friday.
“Parchhaiyaan”, which means ‘The Shadows’, is a musical and dramatic exploration of the life of Ludhianvi. It is written and directed by Urdu writer Suhail Akhtar Warsi.
Tom took to the stage at Genesis Global School, a day-cum-residential education facility, to expose and inspire students to theatre and appreciation of Urdu poetry. He is a member of the advisory board of the school.
“We feel that a student should excel in all phases of education and having such a renowned actor as Mr. Tom Alter as a part of our advisory board helps motivate and create excitement in the minds of students towards theatre,” Pramod Sharma, principal, Genesis Global School, said in a statement.
Ludhianvi, a legendary poet associated with Bollywood’s golden era, penned hundreds of popular songs, ghazals, nazms and speeches in all time classics like “Naya Daur”, “Laila Majnu” and “Daag”.
