‘Twinjabi’ is an Indian-American music duo comprising of twin brothers Kush and Neill star. Their sound can best be described as the intersection between pop, urban, and world music. They aim to be the next best rap duo in the business and looks like there is no stopping the duo at all.
Twinjabi recently spoke to us about Indian music and how they want to represent the country and what are the changes they want to bring in the music space.
Talking about their views on Indian music, they said, “We’re obviously fans of it, no hate against that. But, we feel like it is a lot of the same stuff over and over again which is fine but that’s where we feel like there is a gap. We feel like there is a gap in terms of the Desi-American perspective which wasn’t being shown the way we wanted to and it’s not being shown on a high level the way we wanted to. We just feel like our perspective- The Indian-American perspective isn’t being shown correctly. So that’s where kind of our inspiration came from, we feel like we have a very unique perspective that the world and India needs to see.”
Further talking about their inspiration being ‘Michael Jackson’, Twinjabi said, “He was fearless with his music and so he would do things that were unorthodox, so in our own way that is the type of effect Twinjabi wants to have. We’re not in this to fit in, to be like everyone else. We’re in this to make our own mark, our own legacy. You know with ‘Twinjabi’ were don’t fit into a genre per se and we can seamlessly transition between genres. We want to make a mark in the world, not just India, but we obviously want to represent India.”
Twinjabi recently came out with their new song, ‘Desi Dons’ and they are super excited about it and talking about the song they said, “If you actually look at our catalogue one thing that we pride ourselves on is our versatility. Before Desi Dons released, we did two pop songs which were like ‘Brown Magic’ and ‘Rani Recognize’, they were more like songs for the summer. For the next song, we really wanted to tap into our rapping. This song is basically a flamboyant song, little arrogant where were claiming our throne in the rap game. It’s kind of our introduction to the world and it is sort of the ‘Twinjabi’ introduction. Coming in with a bang, trying to shake the world- that sort of a vibe.”
