Twinkle Khanna reviews Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan: Made me laugh in first half and cry through the second

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, actor Akshay Kumar released his latest movie today. Having said that, now, actor Twinkle Khanna and wife of Akshay took to his Instagram account and dropped the trailer of the film while reviewing the film. She mentioned Raksha Bandhan made her laugh in the first half and cry in the second half while stating how this reality still exists in the country.

Sharing a note on Instagram, Twinkle wrote, “Raksha Bandhan made me laugh in the first half and cry through the second. A movie about the India we all pretend doesn’t exist. A reality that we wish didn’t exist. We have changed terms, from ‘dowry’ to ‘gifts’ but in homes across social-economic strata, variations of the custom loom large. The wonderful Aanand Rai has skilfully built a world where siblings tease each other, support each other and ultimately triumph together. The challenge with altering mindsets is that these conversations circulate largely among the already-converted. It’s perhaps only cinema that has the power to burrow into the minds and hearts of people across the board. Raksha Bandhan may make you smile and crack up, but I dare you to leave the theatre dry-eyed:) #rakshabandhan”

Helmed by Aanand L Rai, Raksha Bandhan starring Akshay Kumar is about a sister-brother bond and love. A brother who wants to marry off his four sisters happily. The film also stars Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna and Smrithi Srikanth along with Bhumi Pednekar. The movie was released on August 11, clashing with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha.
