Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ follows PM Modi’s campaign on Swachch Bharat Abhiyan as it deals with a man who fights to build a toilet in his house for a successful and happy marriage. As the movie nears its release date, the actor has been avidly promoting the flick in different cities, giving interviews, attending press conferences and so on. Now, his wife Twinkle Khanna too seems to have taken keen interest in promoting her hubby’s movie. Known for her impeccable sense of writing and wittiness, the actress-wife wrote in her weekly blog for TOI about certain toilet issues, like she including a ‘toilet clause’ in her marital negotiations with Akshay Kumar in the past. It was amusing to read her experiences with toilet.
She wrote, “In the early years of marital negotiations I had briskly informed the man of the house, ‘Darling, I will share my heart, my body, my life, and though it annoys me, I will even share my food with you, but I will never share my toilet!” (Also Read: Contrary to rumours, Akshay’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ has not been leaked)
She further shared an incident where a girl had defecated on her favourite silk dress as she was not willing to stand in a long queue to the toilet. She wrote, “That was the day that the seeds of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan were sown in my young heart. I gathered a few girls and made four picket signs with a red marker pen that stated: BMC – Build More Commodes! We protested outside the principal’s office and were promptly thrown into detention.” She mentioned that she told her mother back then that she was the one to coin ‘BMC’ way back in 1985. A confused Dimple Kapadia questioned her, “How can it be your idea? The BMC was established in 1888. You were not even born then.”
So, here’s what Twinkle replied, “Oh BMC was my Build More Commodes initiative, not to be confused with the corporation. Like Voldemort, that particular BMC is a name that must not be used lightly, otherwise in the same manner that they found dengue mosquito larvae in RJ Malishka’s house after she made a parody about potholes, it will be our turn next. Sometimes I wonder if FOS (Freedom of Speech) has really gone DTT (Down the Toilet) these days!”
Finally, hubby Akshay reacted on her blog post by sharing it on his Twitter page and writing, “Here I thought she was promoting my film Toilet – Ek Prem Katha but…”
‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ is helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, produced by KriArj Entertainment and stars Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. The movie will be releasing on August 11, 2017.
