After the poor box office response of several movies this year, here comes a respite in the form of Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. The movie has done a really good business of Rs 49.96 crore in the first weekend itself and it has registered the fourth highest weekend business of this year. In fact, the collections are better than his last movie ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ which released earlier this year.
So, as the movie has been doing really good business at the box office, Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna aka Mrs Funnybones, expressed her happiness over the same with a witty tweet. She tweeted, “So even the box office needed this Toilet eventually to break free from its constipation-#ToiletEkPremKath Hit Hit Hooray!”

Earlier, in an interview, the actor spoke about his movie. He said, “My movie is two and half hours of comedy, it is comedy. It is not a documentary, I’m not preaching you with this movie. It’s a complete entertainer, it’s only towards the end that the movie starts getting a bit serious and that’s it. Toilet humour is also in a different way and there is a real story connected here.” He further spoke about the movie being offered to other actors before him by saying, “The writers brought the subject to me. I find it surprising that this script had been doing the rounds of the industry for over four years. It went to a lot of heroes, a lot of people but nobody picked it up. I liked it and I asked Neeraj Pandey with folded hands to give it to me. Earlier, the film was named ‘Sandaas Ek Prem Katha’ but later the title got changed.” (Also Read: ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ collects an amazing amount in its first weekend)
