Adnan Sami criticised by Twitterati for being honoured with the Padma Shri award

Singer-composer Adnan Sami has been awarded the Padma Shri award for his services in the field of art. He took to his Twitter handle to express his gratitude towards the government for recognising him. He called it the greatest moment in his 34 years of the musical journey. He wrote, “The greatest moment for any Artiste is to be appreciated & recognised by his/her government. I am overwhelmed with infinite gratitude for being honoured with the ‘Padma Shri’ by the Government of India. It has been a 34 years musical journey..‘Bohot Shukriya’!!?”

Post his tweet, Twitterati started questioning Adnan’s lineage and attacked the government for conferring him with the prestigious award.

For the unversed, Adnan Sami was granted Indian citizenship in 2016 and he is an Indian now. People have to remember that he has been honoured with the award for his contribution towards music and it is illogical to comment on what his father or parents did.
