We have seen several Bollywood actors actively or passively supporting political parties. Now, we have one more actress joining a political party and it is none other than ‘Rangeela’ actress Urmila Matondkar. Yes, the actress has officially joined the Congress Party and was even welcomed on board by its President Rahul Gandhi.
Urmila took to her Instagram account and thanked Rahul for his warm welcome. “Humbled and charged up about joining the party that believes in secular fabric of our society, democratic set up of our nation and supremacy of Indian Constitution which safeguards freedom and equality for all,” she wrote in her post.

At the event, Urmila also clarified, “I am here because I believe in the ideology of Congress and what the party stands for. I have not joined the party for the sake of elections.”
On the work front, the actress was last seen in Abhinay Deo’s ‘Blackmail’ in a special appearance. Even veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha recently left BJP and joined Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections. On the other hand, veteran actress Jaya Prada joined BJP.
It looks like before the elections, we might see more such actors either joining the political parties or campaigning for them.
