Urmila Matondkar’s dance number ‘Chamma Chamma’ from Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘China Gate’ was a blockbuster in the 90s. These days we get to witness old songs being recreated by the filmmakers. Chartbuster songs like ‘Tamma Tamma’, ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Humma Humma’ and many more are recreated in recent times.
The latest to join the league is ‘Chamma Chamma’. This iconic song will be recreated for Prakash Jha‘s production, ‘Fraud Saiyyan’, directed by Sourabh Shrivastava. The film is a comedy-drama starring Arshad Warsi and Sara Loren in lead roles. Kumar Taurani, who has the rights of the original song, confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror.
Kumar Taurani told Mirror, “Prakash ji recently showed us all the songs from his film and there was a situation where a dance number was required. He selected ‘ Chamma Chamma.’ We have roped in (composer) Tanishk Bagchi to recreate the song for him. Tanishk is known to work his magic on retro tracks. We should have the new version ready by the weekend.”

The team is on a hunt for an apt actress to feature in the recreated version of the song. Reportedly the song will be shot in the next 10-12 days.
‘Chamma Chamma’ was originally composed by Anu Malik, who also crooned the song with Sapna Awasthi Singh, Alka Yagnik, Vinod Rathod, Shankar Mahadevan. Do you think the recreated version will be able to do justice to the original one? Do let us know in the comments section below.
