The unofficial reports of Varun Dhawan making his OTT debut with the Indian adaptation of Citadel had been making rounds for a while now. And now, the actor has made it official. On Tuesday morning, The Russo Brothers, who are the creators of the Citadel universe, made this news official and it has just increased the excitement of the fans worldwide for this unique collaboration.
Taking to Instagram, Russo Brothers shared a post in collaboration with Varun Dhawan, announcing the entry of the actor in the Citadel universe with its Indian instalment. The post read, “We are thrilled to officially announce that we will be bringing you the Indian installment of the Citadel universe. The local Original spy series will start filming in January 2023. (sic)”. Â Along with it, the makers also shared Varun’s first look from the series with a poster that sees him leaning on a car’s bonnet with the Gateway Of India in the background. The actor sure does look dapper in the bearded brooding look.

The announcement has surely left the fans excited to see Varun collaborate with the Russo Brothers who have been the mastermind behind many films in the Marvel universe as well as this year’s release, The Gray Man. Varun’s close friend and actress Alia Bhatt, too, is equally excited as she commented on the post, “Wohooooo (sic)”. Even the actor’s Bawaal co-star Janhvi Kapoor was left elated as she commented a bunch of exclamation marks followed by fire emojis.
According to reports, apart from Varun, Samantha will also be starring in this Indian instalment, while the American series stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas alongside Game Of Thrones star Richard Madden in the lead. The Indian instalment will stream on Amazon Prime Video with Varun starting the shoot of the series in January 2023. A month ago, Varun gave a strong performance in the creature comedy Bhediya, and now, apart from his OTT debut, the actor has Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal with Janhvi.
