Bawaal Trailer: Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor fight ‘wars within’ in an unconventional romantic drama

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Bawaal dropped the trailer on Sunday. With this movie, the audience will witness the fresh pairing of the two actors for the first time on-screen. Bawaal is a romantic drama movie set in the backdrop of Europe. Without further delay let’s see what the trailer delivers.

The Bawaal trailer begins with the introduction of Varun Dhawan as Ajay aka Ajju, a small-town guy from Lucknow, who is super adamant about keeping his image and reputation high. He meets Janhvi Kapoor aka Nisha and thinks “Meri image aur bhi set hojayegi (my image would be more perfect).” Love blossoms between the two and they tie the knot. Further, he takes Nisha on a Europe tour where we see them having a great time.

The second half of the trailer directs towards the backdrop of war, as the movie is said to be set in it. Continuing their Europe tour they reach Hitler’s city Poland where their relationship takes a different turn. Suddenly the understanding levels drop between them and they don’t seem to get along. 

In between the trailer, there are black and white shots which give the world war II reference. The mentions of Adolf Hitler are quite frequent in the trailer. It repeats the scene from the teaser where the couple looks out for each other in a cramped place. But, it’s not clear why or how they reach that situation. 

Overall, the war scenes are in comparison to their relationship breaking down because of their war within themselves. The trailer evokes feelings of love and heartbreak simultaneously.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Bawaal featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, is set to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on July 21.
