Varun Dhawan reveals getting rejected by Aditya Chopra
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun were recently spotted at the trailer launch of their upcoming series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. Varun Dhawan recounted, “During the lockdown, I had a meeting with Aditya Chopra, who, along with Maneesh Sharma, was working on Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. I asked him, ‘Sir, why don’t you consider making an action film with younger talent?’ I made several attempts to persuade him.”
He continued, “He replied, ‘Look, I can’t commit to that right now. If I were to allocate that budget to you, you’re not yet in a position where I’d feel confident investing that much.’ When I reached out to him later about the budget, he provided a figure, stating it was necessary to create a substantial action project.”
When the opportunity to star in Citadel: Honey Bunny came along, one of Varun’s first questions to the team was about the budget. “I remember when this opportunity arose, I immediately asked Raj & DK and Amazon about the budget because I had learned about these considerations from Aditya Chopra. I am incredibly grateful to Raj & DK and Amazon for giving me this chance,” Varun stated.
