Veteran actor and eminent theatre personality Dr Shreeram Lagoo passed away on Tuesday. The actor was 92-years-old. The actor was admitted in Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital. His last rites will be performed on December 19, this Thursday.
Shreeram passed away yesterday at his Pune residence around 8 pm. Reportedly his funeral will take place day after tomorrow(December 19) as his son is staying in the US and is trying to return to the country soon. Lagoo was best known for his Marathi films such as ‘Sinhasan’, ‘Shasan’ and ‘Samna’. Apart from Marathi cinema and theatre, Lagoo was also known in the Hindi film industry for his characters in films like ‘Souten’, ‘Laawaris’, ‘Kalaakar’ and ‘Professor Pyarelal’. Lagoo was a trained ENT surgeon and he practiced in a hospital in Kenya.

Rishi Kapoor took to his Twitter to offer his condolences. He wrote, “R I P. One of the most natural spontaneous actors, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo sahab leaves us. Did several films way back. Unfortunately never got to work with him in the past 25/30 years. He had a retired life in Pune. Love you Dr. Sahab.” Actor Paresh Rawal to gave his respects to Lagoo on Twitter, he wrote, “Truly a GREAT theatre actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo Saab is no more. Aum Shanti .”
