Kajol’s mother and veteran actress Tanuja hospitalised due to age-related illness

Veteran actress Tanuja, mother of Kajol and Tanishaa Mukerji was hospitalised earlier today as she suffered from age-related health issues. The 80-year-old actress was rushed to a hospital in Juhu and was under observation in the ICU.

As soon as the news surfaced, a news agency confirmed that the actress was recovering and there was nothing to worry about. A source informed PTI, “She is under observation. She is doing well. There’s nothing to worry about.”

This is not the first time the veteran actress has been rushed to hospital. In 2019, Tanuja Mukerji was hospitalised as she underwent an operation for a condition called diverticulitis and daughter Kajol and Tanishaa were seen visiting her. For those unversed, diverticulitis is a condition which results in the inflammation or infection of small pouches called diverticula that develop along the walls of the intestines.

Tanuja was born in a filmy family and entered the industry at a very young age. She was born to filmmaker Kumarsen Samarth and actress Shobhna Samarth. Her sister Nutan was also a popular actress. Tanuja’s debut movie was Hamari Beti which released in 1950. She later went on to become part of some iconic movies like Jewel Thief, Haathi Meri Saathi and Mere Jeevan Sathi.

Well, her life was not a bed of roses. In 1972, she got married to filmmaker Shomu Mukerji with whom she has daughters Kajol and Tanishaa. The two unfortunately parted ways and continued to co-parent their daughters. Talking about her separation, Tanuja in an interview earlier said, “We fell in love and tied the knot. What happened later is not important except that we are not together anymore. We agreed to disagree. The only thing I am grateful for is my two daughters Kajol and Tanishaa. Shomu and I never argued in front of them”.

We wish the veteran actress a speedy recovery.
