Vicky Kaushal gives a glimpse of his look as Sam Bahadur as he begins the shoot- WATCH

Actor Vicky Kaushal has now kickstarted the shoot of his upcoming movie, Sam Bahadur. On Monday, he took to his Instagram account and dropped a small video where he is seen giving us a peek into the preparation as well as his look as Sam Manekshaw. We get to see the director Meghna Gulzar preparing for the shot with her team. In the video, we also see Vicky Kaushal having a reading session with his co-stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

That’s not it, the video also teases us with Vicky’s look as Sam Manekshaw which will surely pique your interest. Sharing the video on social media, the Masaan actor captioned, “Only Gratitude as we set out on this extremely special Journey. #Samबहादुर Now Filming! We are thankful for your continued support @indianarmy.adgpi @indianairforce @indiannavy @jehanmanekshaw @bottlesidlemind and the Manekshaw family”

Commenting on the occasion of commencing the film’s shoot, Vicky, who will essay the titular role, told to IANS: “I am fortunate to portray the role of a real-life hero and patriot who is still remembered and loved for his contributions to our country. There is a lot to learn and take back as an actor. With the amount of prep and hard work, the whole team has put in. I am sure the audiences will be thrilled to watch Sam’s mesmerising journey to make India what it is today.”

Excited to embark on this journey, director Meghna Gulzar said: “Finally, after years of extensive research, writing, brainstorming and rigorous preparation, ‘SamBahadur’ has finally gone on floors. It is tremendously fulfilling to be on set and have the opportunity to tell the story of Sam Manekshaw’s inspiring life. A life of bravery, courage, determination and righteousness. They don’t make men like him anymore!”

For the unversed, Sam Bahadur is a biopic on Sam Manekshaw, the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The film will showcase his Army career spanned over four decades and five wars.

Apart from Vicky Kaushal playing Sam Manekshaw, Fatima Sana Shaikh will play late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her Dangal co-star Sanya Malhotra will play Manekshaw’s wife.
