Vicky Kaushal reveals he got offered Sam Bahadur due to Raazi

Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur is one of the most awaited films this year. On Friday, the makers of Sam Bahadur treated fans with the teaser of the upcoming film. Vicky Kaushal as field marshal Sam Manekshaw looks convincing. Vicky has absolutely killed it and there’s no denying that! At the teaser launch of Sam Bahadur, Vicky opened up about playing Sam Manekshaw. The actor also revealed that he bagged the film, all thanks to Raazi which was released in 2018.

Vicky Kaushal talks about Sam Bahadur

Vicky shared, “Agar mein Sam ke journey ke baare mein kuch kahun toh it strangely started with Raazi. Hum Patiala mein shoot kar rahe the Raazi aur 2-3 din ki chutti thi and we were in a hotel. Pehli baar Meghna ne jikar kia tha ki you know meri agli film this is what I am thinking about. It’s based on field marshal Sam Manekshaw aur mein sun raha tha. (If I say something about Sam Bahadur’s journey then it started with Raazi. We were shooting Raazi in Patiala and had 2-3 days offs. That was the first time Meghna mentioned about Sam Bahadur. She was telling me that the film is based on field Marshal Sam Manekshaw and I was listening to her).”

Vicky shared more details on Sam Bahadur

He continued, “Maine unke baare mein kisse sune the mujhe ye nahi pata tha woh dikhte kaise hai. Toh mein baat sunte sunte na maine Google kia ki woh dikhte kaise hai aur maine kaha yeh toh bohot handsome hai, mujhe toh ye role nahi milega (laughs). Tabhi I wished at some point in my career I get an opportunity like this. In 2019 May I remember I got a call from Meghna, she called me home and I went. She mentioned Sam Bahadur again and she spoke again in detail about Sam Bahadur the film, the person, family, army everything. Unhone mujhe kaha mein script deti hu tum padlo. Toh maine kaha mujhe script nahi chahiye. Aap mere baare mein soch rahe ho yeh toh kahi saalo se maine universe mein chodha hua tha ki aap socho mere baare mein.

He further added,”That night I was flying to New York and maine flight mein script padhi and I was waiting ki kab ye 15 ghante ki flight khatam ho aur mein call karu utarte hi ki please aap kahi idhar udhar mat dekhna mein kar raha hu. So, that’s how this journey happened.”

In Raazi, Vicky shared screen space with Alia Bhatt in the same. The movie was directed by Meghna Gulzar.

All about Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur

Coming back to Sam Bahadur, it stars Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi and Sanya Malhotra plays Vicky Kaushal’s character Sam Manekshaw’s wife Silloo. Sam Bahadur will be released in the theatres on 1^st December 2023.
