
Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama “Chhaava” is experiencing strong success, earning ₹140 crore at the Indian box office in under a week. In response to the film’s positive reception, the Mumbai Dabbawala Association has requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to declare “Chhaava” tax-free.

The association’s president, Subhash Talekar, explained their support, stating that “Chhaava” portrays the heroic journey of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He to date remains a revered figure for them. They believe making the film tax-free would enable more people to learn about the Maratha king’s life and sacrifices.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, “Chhaava” tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He was the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Vicky Kaushal stars in the lead role, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta.
Vicky Kaushal’s trip to the temple coincides with Chhaava’s continued success at the box office, which saw its first weekend gross surpass ₹100 crore. The excitement level is on point with the film earning Rs 31 crore on its opening day, Rs 37 crore on day 2 of the release, i.e. the first Saturday and a whopping Rs 48.5 crore on day 3. And with this, Chhaava left behind Vicky Kaushal’s previous major hit, which was Uri: The Surgical Strike. While currently in theatres, the film is expected to premiere on Netflix after its theatrical run, the exact release date has not been announced. Typically, films become available on streaming platforms 45–60 days after their theatrical release.
