Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra says he is a tough person in real life and does not believe in “filmi-friendships”.

Chopra has been in the industry for over 35 years, but hardly has any friends.

When asked if it is a tough place to make friends, the “Parinda” helmer said, “I am tough. I think everybody is just nice. I think my demands of friendship are very high. I don’t believe in filmi friendship.

“If a film is hit people come saying good things. These are strange people. I am not a fake person. I am happy with friends that I have in my life,” he told PTI.

Nevertheless, the 63-year-old filmmaker shares a good bond with writer Abhijat Joshi and director Raj Kumar Hirani.

“Abhijat and I are unusual, we are different from each other. He is a professor and I am not. I abuse, he doesn’t, he talks politely,” he said.

“Raju Hirani and I are also very different from each other. He is like Mahatma Gandhi and I am Subhash Chandra Bose. It is an unusual friendship,” he said.

Chopra is looking forward to the release of his production “Wazir”, starring Farhan Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan and Aditi Rao Hydari.

“I want to say this film is dedicated to friendship. We will add one line in the film on friendship,” he added.

The film, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, is scheduled to release on January 8 next year.
