Vidya Balan recently opened up about domestic violence and how it is unacceptable no matter the explanation, in an exclusive interview with us. Vijay believes that it is easier said than done, but there is always help available and there is always a way out. We asked Vidya her thoughts on the increasing domestic violence during the pandemic, the Shakuntala Devi actress believes that victims should seek help instead of being stuck in an abusive relationship.

Vidya told Bollywood Bubble, “You know it’s very easy for me to sit here and say people should walk out of relationships that are abusive but I know it takes a lot more than that. But most importantly, please know, if this is going to help anyone I think please know you deserve better and that you must seek help. There is no explanation that can justify abuse, verbal or physical.”

She further added, “There is absolutely no explanation, I’ve heard lots of people say, ‘But you know he’s wonderful to me otherwise or she’s wonderful to me otherwise, but sometimes you know gussa aajaata hai’. Arey aesi koi baath nai hoti, gussse par kaabu paana- hum sabko seekhna padega. If you’re not able to do it, then you will have to learn the tough way but it doesn’t matter how much the person loves you, abuse is unacceptable and you must walk out of it. But, I can sit here and say it, I know it is tougher for someone in that situation to do it so I pray that you get the strength to do what is right for you.”
